Police Refuse to Release Mukandila Despite Being Granted Constitutional Bail After 36 Days of Detention
….And Court halts cancellation of Mukandila’s citizenship, Releases him on Constitutional Bail….
LAWYER Patrick Chulu says the Lusaka High Court has stayed government’s decision to cancel Celestine Mukandila’s National Registration Card (NRC) and Zambian passport.
Chulu says Mukandila has also been released on constitutional bail.
Last month, the Department of Immigration arrested Mukandila following a report concerning his immigration status.
Despite being granted constitutional bail, the Zambia Police has defied the court orders and Mukandila remain detained at Kabwata Police Station.
