POLICE ARREST A LIBALA SOUTH MAN FOR BEING IN POSESSION OF COUNTERFEIT NOTES

Police have arrested Given Kavungu aged 26 of Lusaka’s Libala south area for Being in possession of counterfeit notes.
Investigations revealed that the suspect on March 14, 2024 around 19:00 hours, approached a mobile money operator at a booth in Kalingalinga compound near Shoprite and attempted to deposit counterfeit K100 notes worth k1,500.
However, the mobile money operator noticed that all the notes were fake and quickly alerted other people who apprehended and took the suspect to Police.
Upon inspection of the notes, Police observed that all of them were bearing the same serial number.
The counterfeit notes have since been retained awaiting further examination by officials from Bank of Zambia.
Investigations to establish the source of the counterfeit notes have been instituted.
