NG’ANGA ARRESTED FOR CONFISCATING 4 CATTLE FROM WOMAN HE ACCUSED OF WITCHCRAFT

A woman of Itezhi-Tezhi District in Southern Province is seeking justice after her four cattle were taken away from her by a Diviner on accusations that she was practicing witchcraft.

Phales Shimabanga aged 42 of Shandavu Village in Musungwa Chiefdom reported the matter at Itezhi-Tezhi Police Station on April 3, 2024, with the incident said to have occurred on March 24, 2024.

She reported that her four herds of cattle valued at K24,000 and K500 cash were extorted from her by the said Spiritualist identified as Daniel Mainza aged 22.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, notes that on March 23, the complainant learnt of the presence of the Spiritualist in their community and decided to go there because she had lost some property.

However, instead of being told who stole her goods, the Spiritualist accused her of being a witch and compelled her to pay with the four animals and a K500 so that she could be cleansed of her witchcraft.

Daka says unwillingly, she surrendered the said property to the Diviner but she was not happy of how she was treated and decided to complain to the Police.

He states that acting on the complaint, a docket of case was opened and the suspect arrested.
