MWINILUNGA DISTRICT: 2023 CDF GRANTS AND LOANS DISBURSED

Mwinilunga Town Council this morning disbursed the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) worth K5, 379,641.38 of empowerment Grants and Loans to the approved beneficiaries during a colorful event that was held at the civic center.
Two Million one Hundred Fifty-one Thousand Eight Hundred Fifty-Six Kwacha (k 2,151, 856.55) has been commissioned for disbursement to the CDF grant beneficiaries and Three Million Two Hundred Twenty-Seven Seven Hundred Eighty-Four Kwacha has been commissioned for disbursement to the Loan beneficiaries respectively. Out the 69 grants beneficiaries 30 attended the event and received their funds.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mwinilunga Council Chairperson Jonathan Chinyimba said that the empowerment loans and grants are creating economically resilient families and communities capable of making significant contributions to national income and development.
‘We will indeed not relent in being a channel of development as well as agents of poverty reduction. Our resolve is to honestly and diligently implement government programs at local level,’ he said.
Mr. Chinyimba said that government through CDF has placed great emphasis on community participation at both zonal and ward level hence the selection of projects and programs are done in accordance with the needs of communities while facilitating job creation within communities.
He further urged the civic leaders to ensure there is a transparent selection of both loans and grants applicants at zonal and ward level.
And Mwinilunga District Commissioner Harrison Kamuna said that the New Dawn government’s mandate is to fight poverty at local level using a number of avenues such as CDF funds.
He urged the loan beneficiaries to pay back the money as provided for in legal provisions governing the loans so that they can be given to others as well.
Meanwhile Council Secretary Gift Kakoma said the Council has placed high priority in the implementation of CDF programs to ensure that the aspirations of the New Dawn Government are fully achieved at district level.
He further congratulated and cautioned the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently so that development can be seen by many.
