LONGWE WANTS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S NOMINATION TO BE ANNULLED
Charles Longwe, a founding member of the United Party for National Development (UPND), has filed a lawsuit against Batuke Imenda, the Secretary General of the UPND, President Hakainde Hichilema, and the Electoral Commission of Zambia.
This case is scheduled to be heard by the Constitutional Court on June 3, 2026.
Longwe maintains that the UPND has not convened a General Conference, and that the party’s decision to submit a Presidential Candidate without adhering to Article 60 of the Republican Constitution is unlawful and ought to be overturned accordingly.
