KATAKWE SHOULDN’T RETURN TO return to MOH, HIS REMARKS MAY NORMALISE CORRUPTION – ACTIONAID

ACTIONAID Country Director Faides Tembatemba says immediate past minister of Health Dr Alex Katakwe should not be reappointed to the ministry if the UPND wins the August polls.

Tembatemba says despite the former minister’s apology, his remarks encouraging receiving gifts after a job “well done” and “eating moderately” risk normalising corruption in the ministry.

In an interview, Wednesday, when asked what she made of Dr Katakwe’s apology, Tembatemba said the apology was welcome, but added that leaders should learn from situations and mind what they say. “For me, the fact that he apologised, we take the apology, but also, it’s a lesson that we as leaders need to be mindful when we are especially speaking to people in any public institution.
