Kasanda wants state protection!
Lusaka businessman Sedrick Kasanda has asked the state to protect him from any interrogation or arrests in relation to the gold transaction at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.
Kasanda claims the transaction was between Congolese nationals, a South African and Egyptians.
In a statement of claim filed at the Lusaka High Court, Kasanda says he became aware and suspicious of the alleged illegality of the transaction and decided to report the same to various law enforcement agencies which included the Drug Enforcement Commission DEC, the Police, Zambia Air Force and Zambia National Service which led to the recovery of 5 million dollars.
Mr. Kasanda however says despite him being a whistleblower, the state jointly arrested him with other suspects, a decision which he says violates the public interest disclosure (protection of whistleblowers) Act no.4 of 2010.
