🇿🇲 BRIEFING | Kambwili Promises to Reveal Alleged Evidence Against Hichilema
Former Information Minister Chishimba Kambwili has announced that he will today, at 10:30 hours, present what he claims is evidence showing how President Hakainde Hichilema has allegedly accumulated wealth while in office.
Speaking during a live broadcast on his Facebook page, “Hon. Dr. Chishimba Kambwili,” the former minister alleged that the President has used proxies and companies linked to sectors such as ZESCO and the mining industry to enrich himself. Kambwili claimed the Head of State had acquired additional farms and cattle ranches since assuming office in 2021 and said he would challenge the President to explain the growth of his assets.
“We want to know the value of his assets today. He now has farms all over the country for cattle. We want to know where these farms have come from,” Kambwili alleged.
He also questioned how many cattle kraals President Hichilema owned before becoming Head of State, arguing that Zambians deserve greater transparency regarding the President’s wealth before and after assuming office.
Kambwili further urged residents of Luanshya, where President Hichilema is scheduled to campaign today, not to take the President’s campaign messages at face value, saying he intended to air the allegations before the Head of State’s visit.
The former minister also linked his remarks to Tuesday’s reported confrontation involving the Tonse Alliance campaign convoy in Luampa District, claiming the ruling party had resorted to blocking opposition campaigns because it feared losing support. Those claims have not been independently verified.
At the time of publication, President Hichilema, State House and other government institutions had not responded to the allegations.
