Hichilema’s confidence in winning nine provinces comes from direct public engagement, says Haimbe

UPND Vice Legal Chairperson Mulambo Haimbe says President Hakainde Hichilema’s confidence that the ruling party will secure votes in nine out of Zambia’s 10 provinces is based on the positive feedback he has received directly from citizens during his nationwide engagements.

Lusaka, 5 August – Speaking in an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Haimbe said President Hichilema’s optimism stems from his regular interactions with members of the public, who have expressed satisfaction with the government’s policies and development programmes.

He said the President goes beyond addressing political rallies by taking time to meet and listen to ordinary citizens in the communities he visits, allowing him to gain first-hand insight into public sentiment.

According to Mr. Haimbe, many people have commended the administration for what he described as progressive policies and ongoing development initiatives implemented during the UPND’s first term in office.

He added that the President’s confidence is also supported by the government’s performance since taking office, which he said has strengthened public support ahead of the next general election.

Mr. Haimbe also rejected claims that many UPND parliamentary candidates are unlikely to retain or win their respective seats, arguing that the party’s aspiring Members of Parliament remain confident of securing victory.

He said electoral success ultimately depends on persuading voters that a candidate is best placed to represent their interests, adding that UPND parliamentary hopefuls are actively engaging communities across the country to earn public trust and support.
