…If some individuals or their companies owe Eagles Milling, Kalonga Milling and the FRA, those obligations should be resolved internally….
Government says owing money to Eagles Milling and the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) is a normal business practice and should be treated as an internal business matter.
This follows concerns raised by stakeholders over alleged reports that UPND-aligned officials owe millions of kwacha to the two institutions.
Speaking to Hot FM News, Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Maambo Hamaundu said Eagles Milling is operating without any challenges.
Mr. Hamaundu said if it is true that some individuals owe Eagles Milling and the FRA, those obligations should be resolved internally, stressing that settling outstanding debts is part of normal business operations.
Meanwhile, Foundation for Justice and Human Rights Executive Director Christopher Shalwabala has called on law enforcement agencies to investigate the alleged corruption and abuse of office involving purported UPND officials.
