IT’S CONFIRMED: ZAMBIA, BONDHOLDERS SEAL 2024 DEBT AGREEMENT

The Zambia External Bondholder Steering Committee has announced that it has reached a conclusive agreement with the government of Zambia on a restructuring of Zambia’s debt amounting to $3 billion.

In a statement reaching Diamond Media, the agreement follows the government’s confirmation that the terms of the 2024 Agreement are compatible with Official Creditor Committee (OCC) assessment of comparability of treatment and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme terms of the second review framework.

According to a Spokesperson of the committee, the deal is a conclusive agreement with that is supported by all stakeholders.

The source adds the outcome is supported by all the stakeholders and will in due course restore full international capital markets access to Zambia and encourage long-term investment in the country, to the benefit of Zambians.
