Hichilema’s victory reflects confidence Zambians have in him — Malawi President
MALAWI President Peter Mutharika has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema following his declaration as President-elect by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) on August 18.
Mutharika wished President Hichilema every success as he embarks on his renewed mandate.
“The First Lady and I extend our heartfelt congratulations to my brother His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President-elect of the Republic of Zambia, on the occasion of his re-election in last week’s general election,” Mutharika said in a letter shared on his Facebook page
He added that Hichilema’s “resounding victory” was a clear reflection of the confidence Zambians have placed in his leadership and their trust in his vision for the country’s continued progress, peace and prosperity.
Mutharika further said he looked forward to the strengthening of the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Zambia and Malawi.
