GROWING TREND OF UNEXPLAINED DISMISSALS OF PUBLIC WORKERS CRITICIZED

Development Activist Dr. Charity Musamba has urged government to normalize giving reasons for the dismissal of public service workers especially government officials.

Government has on several occasions dismissed public service workers without clearly explaining the reasons behind the actions with the latest being the dismissal of National Road Fund Agency-NRFA- directors whose contracts were terminated.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Dr. Musamba has noted a growing trend of unexplained dismissals of public workers that just leaves the public to make speculations.

She says government must explain the reasons behind these dismissals as the people involved serve public interest and not personal interest adding that people are appointed into public office to handle public resources on behalf of citizens hence the need for the public to know.

Dr. Musamba says it is important that the public is fully and adequately informed when public service workers are relieved of their duties as this will show transparency and also ensure there is no room for speculation.
