GOVERNMENT PAYS $100MILLION TO A SOUTH AFRICAN COMPANY TO MAP ZAMBIA’S MINERALS

AERIAL geological mapping of Zambia is set to start by June monthend this year, as Government has signed a US$100 million contract with Xcalibur Multi-physics of South Africa to undertake the task that was last done in the 1970s.

President Hakainde Hichilema has been emphatic on the need to geologically map the country to know her actual mineral wealth, beyond the traditional mining areas.

Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Hapenga Kabeta said in an interview that the aerial survey of the country will last one year six months.
