GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CAN NOT BE DISTURBED BECAUSE OF TWO WARD BY-ELECTIONS IN A PROVINCE AS VAST AS MUCHINGA SAYS NKANDU

MINISTER of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu has charged that the Government cannot cease its operations because a certain part of the country had local government by-elections.

Reacting to the media reports on PF Facebook pages suggesting that the Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu was in Muchinga Province to roll out empowerment programs when there were two crucial Ward by-elections.

Mr Nkandu says the UPND Government through his Ministry is charged with the mandate and responsibility to develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate youth development programmes in the country including undertaking important programs that are aimed at improving the livelihoods of the young people.

The Minister further says the UPND government was sitting on a political timeframe and it had no time to politicking where delivery of its promises is concerned.

Mr Nkandu also charged that it was unwise to think that the two local government by-elections2 in the province as vast as Muchinga with 8 districts would cause the whole of the government to cease its programs.

“Muchinga province has 8 districts and if you ask me where the by-elections are it is only in two wards with the registered voters of not more than 1000 voters. So for some individuals to think that as a Government we should halt our programs in Muchinga because of the said by-elections is extremely unwise. Why should our people in Isoka, Chinsali, Kanchibiya, Nakonde and other districts where there are no by-elections suffer because of two areas with Ward by-elections,” said Mr Nkandu.
