🇿🇲 FROM PAIN TO PURPOSE: WHEN LEADERSHIP BUILDS, NOT BREAKS🇿🇲: A testament in Mongu that Zambia must never forget and must rise higher
Fellow compatriots,
There are moments in a nation’s history that define not only its politics, but its soul.
The Hakainde Hichilema Mini Hospital in Mongu District is not just a health facility. It is a monument of transformation, a powerful reminder that even the darkest chapters of our past can be turned into light for our people.
We all remember the painful episode that led to the incarceration of President Hakainde Hichilema, a period that tested not only one man, but the conscience of our democracy. A moment where power confronted principle. Where the dignity of leadership was bruised, but not broken.
And yet, what stands before us today is extraordinary:
👉🏽 From imprisonment… to healing
👉🏽 From confrontation… to compassion
👉🏽 From pain… to purpose
Upon his release from Mukobeko, the very land tied to that difficult chapter was not claimed in bitterness – it was offered in unity by the local headman, and received in humility. Today, through the personal resources of the Hichilema family, that land has become a place of life, hope, and dignity for the people of Mongu.
This is not ordinary leadership. This is statesmanship in action.
Nations do not move forward by remembering pain alone; they advance by transforming it into progress. This hospital stands as a living declaration that:
✔️ Violence has no place in our Republic
✔️ Abuse of power must never define our future
✔️ Zambia’s democracy must always rise above moments of darkness
But more importantly, it challenges all of us, leaders and citizens alike, to ask:
What do we build after we have been tested? Do we build bitterness or do we build bridges? Do we deepen division or do we deliver development?
This is where Zambia must now stand – at a higher level of political maturity, where leadership is measured not by words alone, but by what we leave behind for our people.
As we reflect on how far we have come from independence, through difficult transitions, through moments of strain and renewal, we must now commit to a future where:
🇿🇲 Development reaches every village, not just headlines
🇿🇲 Leadership unites rather than divides
🇿🇲 National healing becomes the foundation of national progress
To President Hakainde Hichilema: this act speaks louder than any speech. It reminds us that leadership anchored in resilience, humility, and service can transform even the most painful chapters into pillars of national progress.
We must all stand ready with conviction, clarity, and unwavering commitment to contribute meaningfully to this national journey. Zambia demands a generation of leaders who will build, unify, and deliver without fear or favour.
The people are watching. History is recording and the future is calling for those who cannot be ignored when duty summons.
Let the hospital not just heal bodies, but let it heal our politics, our divisions, and our national memory.
Tiyende Pamodzi. Zambia Forward. 🇿🇲
