POLICE WANT TO ARREST ME FOR IMPLEMENTING ECZ CALENDAR

I have been informed that orders have been issued for my arrest.

My alleged offence? Defending the Constitution.

My “crime” was reminding the Zambia Police that we have every right to campaign in Lusaka under the ECZ-approved campaign calendar after they attempted to block our duly authorized roadshow.

Our security team had to whisk me away to safety because our colleagues are well known for Gestapo type operations.

Zambia is not a police state. No government, no political party and no security agency has the authority to suspend the constitutional rights of citizens for political convenience.

Intimidation, tear gas and threats of arrest will not silence us or stop us from standing for democracy, justice and the rule of law.

The democratic freedoms we enjoy today were paid for through the sacrifices of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, Frederick Chiluba, Levy Mwanawasa and many other gallant Zambians. We will not surrender those freedoms through fear.

If speaking for the Constitution is now an offence, then so be it.

Ifwe tatutobela ichintinya.
