Former president Edgar chagwa Lungu will be barried after we win 2026 election – Brain Mundubile

MUNDUBILE’S COMMITMENT TO DIGNIFIED BURIAL

In a political declaration at a Chinsali rally, Brian Mundubile, accompanied by his running mate Makebi Zulu and the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) leadership, committed to overseeing the respectful burial of former President Edgar Lungu, after August 2026 elections.

Lungu, who passed away in June 2025, has faced burial delays due to a dispute between his family and the Zambian government.

Central to the conflict is Lungu’s wish that President Hakainde Hichilema should not be near his body, a request the current government failed to honour.

The government also wanted to include some funeral activities in the funeral programme without consulting the family.

Recently, a court ruling affirmed Lungu’s family’s exclusive rights to his body, paving the way for his burial and ending the uncertainty surrounding his remains.
