PROMISED MINISTRY OF HEALTH -MOH ON COURSE TO RECRUIT ALL CHOLERA VOLUNTEERS

Health Minister Elijah Muchima says his ministry has taken the presidential directive on the recruitment of volunteers who worked in the cholera centers very seriously.
Dr Muchima told Journalists at a press briefing that the ministry has been working diligently with the Public Service Management Division and the Civil Service Commission to ensure that the process is carried out proficiently and in accordance with the government employment procedure.
Dr Muchima said the Civil Service has commenced the recruitment of volunteers who worked in the cholera centres using the phased approach.
The Minister explained that the Civil Service Commission has so far employed 616 professional staff who worked as volunteers.
He highlighted that out of the 1687 community volunteers who worked at heroes stadium, government has recruited 303 as general workers.
Meanwhile, Dr Muchima says government has heightened surveillance and active case finding following reports of Mpox outbreak formerly known as monkeypox which is fast spreading across the continent and the World Health Organization -WHO has since declared it a global health emergency.
Dr Muchima said the country has not recorded any case of Mpox and has called on citizens to adopt hygienic practices.
