🚨 FIKILE MBALULA CALLS FOR SOUTH AFRICA TO HOST AFCON AND THE RUGBY WORLD CUP, SAYING THE COUNTRY IS READY TO WELCOME THE CONTINENT AND THE WORLD AGAIN

ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has called for South Africa to bid to host both the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the Rugby World Cup, arguing that the country has the experience, infrastructure and sporting passion to successfully stage both major tournaments.

Mbalula said South Africa should once again position itself as a leading destination for international sporting events, highlighting the country’s history of hosting world-class competitions, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 1995 Rugby World Cup, and previous editions of AFCON.

Supporters of the proposal believe hosting these tournaments could boost tourism, create jobs, attract investment and showcase South Africa to millions of people around the world.

Others, however, argue that the country should first prioritize pressing issues such as unemployment, service delivery and infrastructure challenges before committing to hosting expensive global sporting events.
