FARMERS IN CHIPATA VISITING BANKS TO ACCESS AGRIC LOANS

Farmers in Eastern Province have started the process of accessing loans under the credit window facility Initiative in the 2023-2024 farming season.

A check by Breeze FM News yesterday in some banks within the central business district in Chipata found farmers submitting their documents to the banks.

Julia Mbewe of Vubwi District and Andrew Soko of Chief Chinyaku’s area in Chipata says farmers have been assured of the speedy process by the banks.

Other farmers like Frederick Phiri and Gift Mawere who have similar sentiments, however say the process has been delayed, saying the situation is likely to affect majority of the farmers in paying back their loans.

Meanwhile, speaking during a media briefing in Chipata yesterday, Second Deputy Speaker of the national assembly Moses Moyo has commended government for migrating the agriculture by introducing the program which he said will help uplift the living standard of the farmers across the country.

Mr. Moyo, who is also Luangeni Member of Parliament is however not happy with a named bank that he said has delayed the process due to a technical fault.
