A 48 YEAR OLD LUNDAZI MAN MURDERED FOR ADULTERY
A 48 year old man of Chaima village in Chief Mphamba’s area in Lundazi District, Eastern Province, has died after he was stabbed with a sharp object in the head over adultery.
ZANIS reports that Eastern Province Deputy Police Commanding Officer, Stephen Mayoko, has confirmed the death of the man in a statement.
Mr Mayoko said the incident happened between January 11th and 12th, 2024 after Mapili was stabbed in the head with a sharp object and died later at Lundazi District Hospital where he was hospitalised.
He said Mapili had gone to drink beer at Kalungambeba Trading Centre and decided to go back home at 18:00 hours, but did not reach home.
Mr Mayoko said the next morning, a female passer-by saw some blood stains along the road which led to the bush where she found Mapili lying unconscious.
He said Mapili was rushed to Lundazi District Hospital where he was admitted and died in the early hours of 13th January, 2024.
Mr Mayoko said circumstances leading to the death of Mapili are that sometime back in December last year, he was caught committing adultery with another man’s wife.
The husband of the woman caught in the sexual act, by the name of Shadrick Zyambo 30, took the matter to Zumwanda Local Court whose judgment was set for January 17, 2024.
Mr Mayoko said however that on January 12 this year, Police received a report from 68 year old Misho Chipeta that his nephew, Paul Mapili sustained deep cuts on his head and was found unconscious in the bush.
He explained that the police then instituted investigations which led to the arrest of Zyambo after they discovered a green t-shirt he was wearing the previous day stained with blood.
Mr Mayoko disclosed that the suspect was initially detained in police custody for unlawful wounding but said will now appear in court for murder, following the death of the man he attacked.
