Europe Stands With Ukraine Not Out of Charity but Shared Values, Zelenskyy Says on Europe Day
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy marked Europe Day by emphasizing that Ukraine already sees itself as an inseparable part of the European family and is defending not only its own future, but also the future of Europe.
In a message published on May 9, Zelenskyy said Ukraine celebrates Europe Day “not formally or symbolically,” but with a clear understanding that the country is already deeply connected to the European community.
“We defend Ukraine, our independence, our future, and by doing so we defend our Europe — a Europe Ukraine has always belonged to and always will belong to,” the President stated.
