Elon Musk agreed with an X post claiming MacKenzie Scott’s $26.3 billion in charitable donations is “making the world a worse place,” replying, “Sadly, yes.”

Scott became one of the largest individual donors in human history after giving away more than $26.3 billion through Yield Giving since her 2019 divorce from Jeff Bezos.

Her unrestricted donations have supported 2,700+ nonprofits, including historically Black colleges, tribal colleges, Native scholarship programs and low-income communities.

Musk has repeatedly criticised DEI initiatives, saying Scott’s philanthropy reflects an agenda he believes is harmful rather than questioning the amount she donated.

Scott has not publicly responded to Musk’s remarks, while her giving model continues to receive praise from many philanthropy leaders.
