COPPERBELT POLICE COMMISSIONER YUYI DEMOTED

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Mwala Yuyi, a former favoured officer of President Hakainde Hichilema, has been unceremoniously removed from his position and is awaiting redeployment.

This development reportedly stems from Yuyi’s candid briefing to President Hichilema, in which he revealed troubling realities about the political climate in the Copperbelt province.

Commissioner Yuyi is said to have informed President Hichilema that the ground situation in Copperbelt was far from favorable no matter how he tightens the space for the opposition, contrary to the optimistic narratives often presented.

Specifically, Yuyi conveyed that Honourable Brian Mundubile enjoys significant support among the local electorate, making him the most preferred candidate to win the provincial presidential vote.

This type of frank truth-telling, while essential for informed leadership decisions, reportedly did not sit well with President Hichilema’s inner circle, culminating in Yuyi’s immediate removal.

Recent political activities in Copperbelt seem to underscore an urgent bid to sway public favor.

Last week’s rally in Kitwe, presided over by President Hichilema, incurred expenditures amounting to K40 million.

Such large-scale spending suggests concerns about the President’s waning popularity in this crucial region.

Furthermore, a week following the rally, the President and Elisha Matambo approached the youth in Chingola with promises of mineral dumpsites that have already been sold but made an agreement with the owner to temporarily relinquish them to give to the youth before reclaiming them after  elections.

The fact is that Copperbelt is gone to Mundubile.
