Chilufya Tayali Issues Unreserved Apology

Economic and Equity Party Leader Chilufya Tayali has issued an unreserved apology for statements he made on social media, admitting the remarks were wrong, inappropriate, and caused hurt and offence to many people.

In a statement released to ZNBC News, Mr. Tayali expressed regret over comments that have led to criminal proceedings currently before the courts.

He specifically apologised to Chief Mukuni and the Mukuni Royal Establishment, acknowledging that he should never have involved the traditional leader in the matter.

Mr. Tayali also apologised to the Bemba‑speaking people and to Zambians at large, describing his remarks as offensive, insensitive, and disrespectful.

He further expressed regret for comments that drew members of the defence and security services into political discourse, particularly regarding their emoluments, saying he now fully appreciates the importance of maintaining their neutrality and professionalism.

Mr. Tayali has also apologised to President Hakainde Hichilema, the Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces, as well as to security personnel and the Zambian people, seeking forgiveness from all individuals directly or indirectly affected by his statements.
