CENTRAL PROVINCE PS WARNS AGAINST STREET VENDING, EMPHASIZES GOVERNMENT’S COMMITMENT TO LAW AND ORDER

In a strong statement, the Central Province Permanent Secretary, Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe, has issued a warning against street vending in Kabwe District. Addressing recent reports suggesting a government U-turn on street vending, Dr. Mwanakampwe made it clear that the New Dawn administration under President Hakainde Hichilema is a government of laws and order. He emphasized that all decision-making processes are conducted with great care and precision, leaving no room for haphazard leadership.

As the Provincial Administration, Dr. Mwanakampwe asserted that they will not go against the directives of the President or the demands of the law of the land. The rumors suggesting the return of vendors to the streets were dismissed, and he called upon the public in Kabwe and beyond to disregard them and treat them with contempt.

The Permanent Secretary stressed that illegal activities, such as street vending, will not be allowed in Central Province. Instead, he encouraged individuals to trade in the designated markets where there are sufficient trading spaces available. To maintain order and peace, law enforcement in the province, particularly in Kabwe District, has been instructed to deal with anyone found breaking the law accordingly.

Dr. Mwanakampwe concluded by highlighting the consequences of defying government directives and listening to those who incite illegal activities. He reminded the public that these individuals would not be there to support or pay for the repercussions resulting from such actions.

The Central Province Permanent Secretary’s firm stance on street vending reinforces the government’s commitment to upholding the law and maintaining order. By discouraging street vending and promoting legal trading spaces, the administration aims to create an environment where businesses can thrive while ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
