BINWELL MPUNDU BLASTS ‘BAKANDILE’: BETRAYAL IN ZAMBIAN POLITICS
The FOX Newspaper
Hon Binwell Chansa Mpundu has unleashed a scathing attack on political opportunists—Bakandile—who thrive in times of power but quickly turn against their former allies when circumstances change.
Reflecting on former President Edgar Lungu’s political journey, Mpundu lamented how individuals who once shared meals with him are now the first to tear him down. He described them as wolves in sheep’s clothing, who presented themselves as loyalists but were merely positioning themselves for personal gain.
“It is shocking to see people that used to eat on the same plate with him now stripping him of his dignity just for a loaf of bread,” Mpundu wrote, emphasizing the depth of political betrayal in Zambia.
A prime example, many argue, is Amos Chanda—Lungu’s former press aide—who once defended and shaped Lungu’s public image. Today, he sits at a different table, surrounded by a new political team, yet instead of showing restraint, he is actively discrediting Lungu and those he once worked closely with.
Mpundu’s remarks serve as a broader warning to those in leadership: political loyalty is often an illusion. Those who sing praises today may be the first to cast stones tomorrow. The question remains—who are the real disciples, and who are merely Bakandile waiting for their next feast?
