ATI NO ONE WILL DIE OF HUNGER BUT IT TAKES A WEEK TO COLLECT MAIZE AFTER PAYING – CHOOKA

A resident of Monze’s Kayuni area has added his voice to those complaining about the lengthy process it takes to purchase Maize grain from the Food Reserve Agency- FRA.

Mainza Chooka tells Byta FM Zambia News in an interview that locals in the area are going days without a proper meal due to delay in accessing Maize from FRA sheds.

He wonders why it has to take one week after payment for one to collect their Maize, hence urging government to quickly intervein to ensure hunger is curbed in communities.

Meanwhile, Monze Central Constituency Member of Parliament, Jack Mwiimbu, has assured residents in the district that no one will perish of hunger in the district.

He states that the President is aware of the current drought situation, hence declaration of the National Disaster and Emergency, with various interventions been drawn.

Mwiimbu adds that government is going to prioritize drilling of boreholes and expanding dams in order to have water security this year and in future.
