BOZ, ZICTA DEACTIVATE MUNDUBILE CAMPAIGN DONATION SHORT CODE
At the instruction of President Hakainde Hichilema, the fundraising short code used by Brian Mundubile’s campaign to collect public donations for its Vote Protection initiative has been deactivated, Kachepa360 understands
This came shortly after the campaign announced that it had raised over K860,000 in cash donations within 24 hours and received K2.8 million in pledges.
A well placed source at the redbrick has told Kachepa360 that the reported deactivation of Brian Mundubile’s Vote Protection fundraising short code is an attempt by the UPND government to frustrate his campaign’s efforts to raise funds for election management and voter protection by engaging state institutions such as the Bank of Zambia and ZICTA.
The well placed source has further disclosed to Kachepa360 that the team is exploring the option of opening a GoFundMe page to continue raising funds, saying they hope it will prevent any future disruption to the fundraising effort.
