HH COMPLETES NORTHERN PROVINCE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

President Hakainde Hichilema has wrapped up his campaign visit to Northern Province, pledging more infrastructure, healthcare, education and job opportunities as he appealed to voters to support the UPND in the August 13 general election.

During the two-day campaign tour, President Hichilema engaged communities in Mpulungu, Mbala, Mungwi and Kasama districts, where he outlined plans aimed at accelerating development and improving livelihoods.

In Mpulungu, President Hichilema announced that the government is working towards the construction of a fully fledged, state-of-the-art hospital to respond to the district’s growing population and improve access to quality healthcare.

He said the expansion of services would also be supported by the recruitment of more health workers and teachers, establishment of a trades school and continued investment in road infrastructure.

Senior Chief Tafuna of Mpulungu praised the government’s development agenda, particularly projects implemented through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), and endorsed President Hichilema ahead of the August polls.

In Mbala, traditional leaders led by Senior Chief Sokolo endorsed President Hichilema and the UPND, citing ongoing development projects across the country.

President Hichilema pledged to modernise the Zombe-Kaseshya Border facility, connecting Zambia and Tanzania, as well as upgrade Lunzuwa Bridge linking Mbala and Mpulungu if given another mandate.

He also assured communities that the recruitment of volunteer nurses and teachers would continue, saying job creation remains central to his administration’s plans.

In Mungwi, President Hichilema thanked residents for turning out in large numbers and said his administration would continue delivering roads and other infrastructure while focusing on reducing the cost of living and expanding employment opportunities.

The final stop of the tour in Kasama saw President Hichilema announce plans for the construction of an ultra-modern hospital and a public university in Northern Province.

He said the upgraded Kasama Airport, which was elevated to international standards, was already generating economic benefits, with increased revenue collection following the improvement works.

President Hichilema also reiterated his administration’s commitment to free education and directed the recruitment of teachers and volunteer health workers who attended the engagement.

He urged the people of Northern Province to vote for the UPND, saying a second mandate would allow the government to continue implementing development programmes aimed at improving the lives of Zambians.
