KZN GOVERNMENT SETS ASIDE R93.5 MILLION FOR ZULU ROYAL HOUSEHOLD AS PREMIER THAMI NTULI SAYS THE MONARCHY CAN HELP DRIVE DEVELOPMENT, UNITY AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has announced that the provincial government will allocate R93.5 million to support the AmaZulu Monarchy and Royal Household.

According to the Premier, the funding is intended to strengthen the institution’s role in promoting social cohesion, preserving cultural heritage, supporting community development and contributing to economic activity across KwaZulu-Natal.

The provincial government says the Zulu Monarchy remains an important traditional institution with influence in many communities and believes continued investment can help support development initiatives while protecting the province’s cultural identity.

The announcement has already sparked debate, with some South Africans supporting the allocation as an investment in culture and tradition, while others argue that public funds should instead be directed towards pressing needs such as healthcare, education, housing and job creation.

The R93.5 million allocation is expected to cover the operations and activities of the AmaZulu Royal Household as part of the province’s budget plans.
