SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS THE GROWING TOLL OF UKRAINE’S CAMPAIGN AGAINST RUSSIA’S SHADOW FLEET

New satellite imagery released by Dnipro OSINT provides a striking look at eight previously targeted Russian tankers operating in the Sea of Azov, revealing the cumulative damage inflicted by Ukraine’s expanding maritime strike campaign.

The images show vessels with burn damage, blackened decks, scorched superstructures, and signs of significant structural damage, illustrating that these attacks are no longer isolated incidents but part of a sustained effort to disrupt Russia’s maritime logistics.

Ukraine’s strategy appears increasingly focused on making every voyage carrying Russian oil a calculated risk.

For years, Russia weaponized maritime trade by blockading Ukrainian ports and threatening global grain shipments. Today, Ukraine is turning the tables. Oil tankers, fuel barges, and vessels linked to Russia’s shadow fleet are becoming legitimate military objectives when they help sustain the Kremlin’s war economy or circumvent international sanctions.

The consequences extend far beyond the damaged ships themselves. Every successful strike raises insurance premiums, increases operating costs, forces route changes, and makes captains and shipping companies think twice before agreeing to transport Russian oil.

The message Ukraine is sending is becoming unmistakable: if you help finance Russia’s war by moving its oil, you are accepting a very real operational risk.

Rather than attempting to impose a naval blockade with a conventional fleet, Ukraine is using precision strikes and long-range capabilities to achieve a similar strategic effect—making Russia’s maritime trade increasingly expensive, unpredictable, and dangerous. 🇺🇦
