OYV CRITIQUES GOVERNMENT OVER ELECTORAL LAWS

OPERATION Young Vote Executive Director Guess Nyirenda says the delay by the New Dawn Administration in amending some of the contentious electoral laws such as the Public Order Act will between now and 2026 cost the Country.

Nyirenda adds that there is also need to expedite the amendment process of the Electoral Commission of Zambia Act in addition to the Electoral Process Act for transparency in the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Guess Nyirenda also calls on the need to amend the Republican Constitution with regards to contentious electoral articles.

Last week, the Governance, Elections, Advocacy and Research Services – GEARS Executive Director Patrick Kaumba urged Government to expedite the process of reforming the Public Order Act.
