Trump Claims US Can Read Iranian Name Tags From Space
Donald Trump claimed the US has “9 cameras in space” watching Iran’s enriched uranium sites and can even read the names of people nearby from orbit.
Trump said:
“We can read the name of a person… right on his tag, right from space.”
He also said that “50% of them are named Mohammad.”
But here’s the reality:
Modern US spy satellites are extremely advanced, but experts say the idea that satellites can read name tags or newspapers from space is a myth.
What satellites can do:
• Detect vehicles and buildings
• Track movement around military sites
• Identify large military equipment
What they cannot realistically do:
• Read chest name tags
• Read license plates clearly from orbit
• Identify tiny written text from space
Military satellite resolution is believed to be around 5–10 centimeters per pixel.
Reading small text would require millimeter-level detail, which current space optics cannot achieve.
So while US surveillance technology is incredibly powerful, Trump’s description appears heavily exaggerated.
❓ Is Trump intentionally exaggerating American surveillance power… or does he genuinely believe satellites can do this?
