The Wonderful Group of Companies, in collaborations with the Zambia National Service (ZNS), has officially handed over the newly constructed Mutinta Hichilema Secondary School in Chilanga Constituency. The k35 million modern facility, which can accommodate 500 students, was officiated by First Lady Mutinta Hichilema, after whom the school is named.

In her address, the First Lady thanked Wonderful Group and ZNS for their investment in education and urged students to use the school responsibly. She called on parents, teachers, and the community to protect the facility for future generations, reaffirming her commitment to championing quality education, especially for girls and vulnerable children.

Wonderful Group CEO Huang Yaochi said the handover was a proud moment for  Zambia  and Wonderful Group. He noted the company’s $1.5 billion investment footprint in zambia across agriculture, chemicals, energy, and construction, employing over 7,200 people.

Beyond business, Yaochi said the group has built a hospital and police station, donated police vehicles, provided water and electricity, constructed roads, and supported anti-malaria programs.

He described education as the foundation of development and encouraged students to stay disciplined, respect teachers, and believe in themselves, hoping future leaders will proudly say they studied at Mutinta Hichilema Secondary School. He added that the project was made possible through Zambia-China friendship and cooperation.

Meanwhile Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima praised President Hakainde Hichilema for making education his most important legacy through free education.

He said Zambia now has about 7 million children in school, with projections of 10 million in 3–4 years. With a population of 20 million, half the country will soon be in classrooms. Syakalima announced a record 70.29% pass rate this year, the highest in 60 years.
