PRESSURE MOUNTS FOR MUNDUBILE’S RELEASE
Pressure is mounting for the release of Tonse Pamodzi Alliance president Brian Mundubile and vice president Makebi Zulu as their lawyers reportedly continue to face difficulties accessing them at Mukobeko Maximum Security Prison.
Citizens First president Harry Kalaba has called for the unconditional release of Mundubile, Zulu and other political detainees, saying their release should form part of efforts towards dialogue, reconciliation and national healing.
The lawyers have also raised concerns over alleged restrictions on access to their clients, while the Commonwealth Lawyers Association has expressed concern about access to justice, judicial independence and the ability of lawyers to represent clients without interference.
Meanwhile, calls for political dialogue are growing, with Tonse figure Binwell Mpundu appealing to President Hakainde Hichilema for peace and engagement.
The 18 opposition figures remain facing treason charges linked to allegations of a militia. The case continues to attract significant political and legal attention.
