UGANDA PRESIDENT REMEMBER MUAMMAR GADDAFI FROM THEIR YOUNG AGE
“IF HE HAD LISTENED TO ME, THEY WOULD STILL BE AMONG THE LIViNG”
-Ugandan Presido|Point One Museveni gives a sober reflection on when he advised Gadaffi to thread carefully when picking sides
“We were two young, rugged comrades who came to power through the barrels of the gun.
He was two years older than I am and had already entered the corridors of power 17 years before I was chosen by the people of Uganda to save them.
I was his good friend. We shared ideas on how to put Africa forward in the world scheme of things. We shared moments of laughter and moments of strategic policy discussions on government that would redeem Africa and make Africa great again!
He projected a united Africa, but for some reasons, he fell out with the West!
I knew it wasn’t something personal from him because, coming from his humble background, he didn’t want to be a second-class citizen again in Africa!
However, when he started to pull the strings of penetrating into the world politics arena of superpowers—without a strong base of military defense, abundant money with a solid structure of indestructible assets, and abundant reliable allies—I could sense it.
I called him: ‘Colonel Alhaji’ (as I usually called him), ‘you are pushing too fast; take it easy. In my native community’s Wrestling Festival in Bahima, men do not throw an open challenge to a wrestler they aren’t sure of throwing to the ground.’
He smiled and told me, ‘Alkebulan is Africa. Africa doesn’t have to bend!’
Now we are here!”
And that’s his reflection
