CHOMA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR COHABITING WITH 17 YEAR OLD BOY
Police in Choma have detained a 35-year-old woman for allegedly sexually exploiting a 17-year-old boy and cohabiting with him.
Southern Province Police commanding officer Moono Namalongo said the woman was arrested after being reported to police by the boy’s father.
Mr Namalongo said the suspect allegedly took the juvenile into her home between November 30, 2025, and June 16, 2026, where the two reportedly lived together.
“The father reported that he had, on several occasions, asked the woman to release his son, but she allegedly refused, prompting him to seek police intervention,” Mr Namalongo said in a statement
He said police officers who visited the suspect’s house did not find the juvenile, as he had reportedly left for an unknown destination.
Mr Namalongo said the woman was apprehended and interviewed, during which she allegedly told police that the juvenile had professed his love for her and that she had accepted his proposal.
He said the suspect is being held in police custody for alleged sexual exploitation of a child, contrary to Section 19(a) of the Children’s Code Act No. 12 of 2022.
Mr Namalongo said investigations into the matter are ongoing.
