ZAMBIA’S BOXING SENSATION PATRICK CHINYEMBA PROMOTED TO SERGEANT

Zambia’s boxing prodigy, Patrick Baddo Chinyemba, is making waves both inside and outside the ring. The talented boxer has recently been promoted to the esteemed rank of Sergeant in the Zambia National Service (ZNS), a recognition of his dedication and skill both in boxing and in service to his country.

Chinyemba, who has been a rising star in the boxing world, expressed his gratitude for the promotion, thanking Commander Lt Gen Maliti Solochi and the entire high command at ZNS, as well as the Zambia Boxing Federation. This promotion comes as a testament to his hard work and commitment to both his military duties and his sporting career.

Adding to his accolades, Chinyemba was named the 2023 Sportsman of the Year by the Zambia Boxing Federation, further solidifying his position as one of Zambia’s most prominent sporting figures.

In a remarkable turn of events, Chinyemba secured a gold medal at the African Games held in Accra, Ghana, without even stepping into the ring for the final bout. The 51kg final saw him declared the victor through a walkover, as his South African opponent withdrew from the match. This victory not only showcases Chinyemba’s skill and dominance in the sport but also highlights his ability to adapt and seize opportunities when presented.

Chinyemba took a moment to acknowledge the support he has received throughout his journey, thanking the Government, through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), and his family for their unwavering encouragement and backing.
