Why are there more than 1,000 Tesla Cybertrucks at SpaceX in Texas?
A visitor traveled to Starbase, Texas, to see what had happened to the huge fleet of Tesla Cybertrucks reportedly purchased by SpaceX and other Elon Musk companies.
Photos from the site showed Cybertrucks filling parking lots and driving around the area, fueling speculation online.
The explanation is much simpler than many expected. Most of the trucks are believed to be leased by SpaceX employees through heavily subsidized company programs. Reports suggest employees can lease a Cybertruck for around $400 a month, with free Supercharging available at the base.
The sightings also come as Cybertruck sales have slowed significantly, with reports showing Tesla sold 20,237 units in 2025, down from 38,965 in 2024. Registration data also indicates that 1,279 Cybertrucks were purchased by SpaceX and other Musk owned companies, including xAI, Neuralink, and The Boring Company.
Seeing hundreds of Cybertrucks in one place shows just how large SpaceX’s fleet has become.
