Zambian Police are investigating an incident involving several youths who were left stranded at Heroes Stadium yesterday following the ABSA Cup final between Red Arrows and Kabwe Warriors.

The youths, who appeared intoxicated and mainly hailed from Kabanana and Kanyama, accused PF Chief Propagandist Emmanuel Mwamba of arranging their transportation and entry into the stadium. They alleged they were intended to disrupt the match, where Republican President Hakainde Hichilema was the guest of honor.

“After the match, as we were clearing the stadium, we noticed about 35 youths who seemed stranded,” reported Mike Phiri, a local from Kabanana. “They were waiting for transportation since the bus that brought them had already left. Upon further questioning, they disclosed that they were each promised K50, received an initial K25 plus some drinks, and were still owed K25 by their sponsors.”

According to the police, the youths under investigation claimed they were organized and hired by Emmanuel Mwamba, who is currently circulating a video clip allegedly showing the President being booed.

“Such actions by individuals like Emmanuel Mwamba pose a serious violation of FIFA/CAF statutes, as they could provoke rival groups within the stadium, potentially leading to a stampede,” the investigators noted. “Although it was a small group, around 30, such actions could force the abandonment of a match or lead to a stadium ban. These individuals are recklessly sharing this clip worldwide, risking punitive measures against our country. We take this matter very seriously and are conducting thorough inquiries with these youths to identify their sponsors accurately. Football should unite us, and we do not tolerate political disruptions at these events.”
