USA COMMENDS ZAMBIA’S PEACEFUL 2026 ELECTIONS

The United States of America has commended Zambia for holding successful and peaceful elections on August 13, 2026.

Executive Director to the Deputy Under Secretary of the United States Air Force for International Affairs, Eugene Park, said the United States is proud of the Zambian people for maintaining peace during the elections.

Mr. Park was speaking yesterday when he paid a courtesy call at the Ministry of Defence.

He said Zambia remains a priority country for the United States, noting that the two countries have enjoyed more than 60 years of bilateral relations.

Mr. Park further said the United States is ready to work with Zambia and support the modernisation of the Zambian military.

He also commended Zambia for taking a leading role in international military engagements, including hosting the Africa Land Forces Summit in 2024 and the African Air Chiefs Symposium in 2026.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Defence Acting Permanent Secretary Milicent Mwenda said defence and security cooperation between Zambia and the United States continues to grow every year.

Mrs. Mwenda said Zambian military personnel have benefited from training opportunities in the United States.

She also thanked the American government for infrastructure recently handed over at the Kenneth Kaunda Peace Training Centre in Lusaka, saying the facilities cost millions of dollars.
