UPND USA/CANADA CHAPTER DONATES WHEELCHAIRS TO DISABLED IN LUSAKA

The UPND USA/Canada Chapter members have donated 10 wheelchairs worth K35,000 to various vulnerable in society.
Meanwhile, UPND Secretary General, Batuke Imenda who was the guest of honour at the handover of ten (10) wheelchairs thanked the UPND Canada/US Chapter for responding to the ruling party manifesto that espouses disability inclusivity.
And in appreciating disability inclusivity in the socio-economic development of Zambia, Mr Imenda said President Hakahinde Hichilema has appointed Persons with Disabilities in different government offices.
Mr Imenda also welcomed the donation of wheelchair to deserving members of the community; a gesture he said, shall go a long way to easy the life and mobility of the beneficiaries.
And representing members, Chapter chairperson, Dr Cosmas Zyaambo said this act of kindness speaks volumes about the compassion and commitment of the diaspora community towards the well being of fellow citizens in Zambia.
Dr Zyaambo said he is privileged to present the donations in his capacity as the first chairperson of the UPND US/Canada chapter and the diaspora chapter liaison person who played a pivotal role in making these donations possible
“This is a collective dedication of our colleagues who are still in the diaspora in supporting vulnerable populations back home which is truly commendable. he said.
He said the chapters donation of 10 wheelchairs valued at K35,000 is a testament to the spirit of unity and solidarity that binds our diaspora community.
Dr Zyaambo further said the beneficiaries, carefully selected from different parts of Lusaka and sinazongwe districts represent a cross section of those in need and our hope is that these wheelchairs will bring comfort and inproved mobility to their lives.
He said the diaspora community demonstrated unwavering dedication to the ideals of the party.
” Today as we hand over these wheelchairs we aim to compliment the efforts of the Government in meeting the needs of the vulnerable people here in Zambia, he said
Dr Zyaambo said he would like to take this opportunity to call upon other diaspora chapter to emulate the US/Canada chapters example which is a significant impact on the lives of those less fortunate to ensure some collective efforts contribute to a brighter and more inclusive future for Zambia.
” in the same vein this opportunity to appeal to all diaspora community to support towards cholera prevention through donations to compliment and supplement government’s efforts in the fight against the pandemic”
And Dr Zyaambo said this support will continue to stand united in our commitment to serving the vulnerable populations in Zambia this donation will inspire others to join hands in forstering positive change and building a more compassionate society we want.
