‘UPND’ cadres, officials pepper-spray ECZ officers, get away with ballots
SUSPECTED UPND cadres on Friday went rampaging in Chirundu and Sikongo districts where local government by-elections were taking place and assaulted Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), whom the pepper-sprayed while spewing invectives at Police officers and the general public before the attempted to steal ballot boxes.
Brown Kasaro, the ECZ Chief Electoral Officer confirmed the incidences of violence and unruly behavior by the cadres whose political party they did not name but video clips from Chirundu which went viral shoed that the zealots were arrested and bundled in a police vehicle for attempting to run away with ballot boxes.
