UPND Accused of Vote Buying in College and University Student Union Elections

The United Party for National Development (UPND) has been accused of engaging in vote buying and other unethical practices to secure victories for their preferred candidates in student union elections at colleges and universities.

At Evelyn Hone College, UPND-backed candidate Mubiana Sicwani, also known as Litunga, reportedly received over K60,000 in support to ensure his election.

This funding was allegedly used to buy large quantities of beer at G gates and to bring popular artists such as Mordecai and Dizmo to perform, in a bid to sway student voters.

Students at Evelyn Hone College have expressed concerns about this trend, fearing that such practices undermine the democratic process in the selection of their student union leaders.
