TWO PERISH IN FATAL RTA IN CHIPATA
Two people have died after a fatal road traffic accident that occurred yesterday opposite Chipata District Hospital along the Great East Road in Chipata.
The incident happened around 10:30hrs.
Involved was Samson Banda aged 30 of Ibex Compound in Katete District who was driving a Motor Vehicle namely Toyota Sienta.
Also involved were two Pedestrians namely Female Caroline Sakala aged 17 of Zibazako Compound and Female Dina Ngweba aged 16 of the same Compound in Chipata District.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Limpo Liywalii says the accident happened when the driver due to excessive speed, lost control of his Motor Vehicle and careered off to the right side of the road and in the process hit the Pedestrians and eventually overturned.
He says due to the impact, Caroline Sakala sustained Fatal head injuries and died on the spot while Dina Ngweba equally sustained head injuries and died upon arrival at Chipata Central Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited in Chipata Central Hospital Mortuary awaiting Post Mortem examination.
The driver of the Motor Vehicle escaped unhurt.
