TWO CHILDREN DROWN AFTER MAD MAN THROWS THEM IN RIVER

Two children of Nkomba area in Mpika District in Muchinga Province have drowned after they were thrown into a river by a man who is suspected to be mentally disturbed.

Mpika Central Member of Parliament FRANCIS KAPYANGA says the mentally disturbed man has also died after people instituted mob justice on him for allegedly throwing the boys into the Lufila River.
Mr. KAPYANGA says the incident happened on Tuesday.

He has told ZNBC News in a telephone interview that the two children were aged three and one of them was retrieved without private parts.

Mr. KAPYANGA has disclosed that a Police officer who rescued the suspect from a mob, tried to rush him to the hospital but he died on the way.

And Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer PAUL ACHIUME says the suspect is mentally challenged who is a former convict and has a history of murder.

Mr. ACHIUME has told ZNBC News in a statement that the suspect was once convicted for killing his grandfather but was later discharged but continued committing crimes in the community.

He says on the fateful day, he was seen leading the two boys aged five and six to Lufila river where the community later found their bodies floating on the river.
