THERE WAS ONLY 7 DRINKS FOR JOURNALISTS AT STATE HOUSE FUNCTION
“have a ask and need advise where I went wrong.
So yesterday at state house during the bilateral talks between President Hakainde Hichilema and visiting Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi, I had asked my media colleagues to allow our Mozambican counterparts to eat first before we did coz I realised that there were little snacks on the table.
This was because snacks had not yet been served because the official talks were still ongoing.
Realising that there were only about 7 drinks on the table and some fritters, I said it was only wise to allow our visitors eat first coz us We can get food even outside State House – Zambia.
Some colleagues hid to the plea while others just brushed it and rushed for the few drinks and snacks.
Most of our Mozambican counterparts didn’t even have any including the presidential Spokesperson from that country.
I then went to ask those responsible for snacks if they could just give us even just 10 drinks and extra snacks for our colleagues who had nothing.
Luckily that was provided and that’s how our colleagues ate.
Now as the event went by, I started hearing complaints that I stopped my friends from eating and the like.
Then a Minister called me saying some media colleagues have been going to him complaining that am intimidating them.
This morning, I called a media colleague to ask about yesterday’s event and he too said yes collegues were talking but told them that he never saw anything wrong in my actions.
Imagine we ate and they did not, what impression were they going to have about us?
Was I wrong or right in my actions.
Why should we always complain about everything and anything?”
