There is less political violence in 2026 elections than In 2021-Kabesha

Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha SC, has observed that the 2026 general elections have recorded reduced incidents of violence compared to the 2021 polls.

Attorney General Kabesha said Government is committed to upholding democratic principles by ensuring free and peaceful elections.



Mr Kabesha also stated  that Government will continue to strengthen electoral dispute resolution mechanisms by guaranteeing timely and credible adjudication of petitions.



He noted that Zambia remains engaged with regional and international partners to ensure that the elections are peaceful, inclusive, and transparent



Mr Kabesha made these remarks during a meeting with the SADC Electoral Observee Mission (SEOM), led by Honourable Samuel Tembenu, SC.



The SEOM is in the country to follow up on legal issues affecting the upcoming general elections scheduled for 13 August 2026.
